INTRO TO IMPROVISATION

Can I take the class if I’ve never done any acting? Sure you can, as long as you have a positive attitude and are willing to joyously try new things.

Can I take the class if I’ve already learned improv somewhere else? Sure you can, it will be just like going to the gym (just maybe less sweaty).

Will you be teaching kids classes someday? We will certainly be adding programming like that for Spring Break 2025, but for now we just want to hang out with people our own age.

Is there anything else I need to know about these classes? You should know that we have a few expectations for anyone that signs up for our FREE classes. Here they are:

  1. Attend the workshop. We are committed to creating the best event for you, we would ask that even though there is no money involved you treat this workshop like the $99 value it is.  As class space is limited, cancelling on the night of the event means someone else misses out on the experience.
  2. Participate! This workshop is all about experiencing improvisation and enjoying the thrill of the unexpected. Although there will be moments that you’ll be sitting and enjoying others work, be ready to get involved in all of the evenings activities.
  3. Bring a positive attitude, and be respectful to others. This class will be filled with fun opportunities to explore improvisation. Let’s be kind to each other and have a great time.
  4. Be prepared to move around a bunch, we won’t be running a marathon but Improv can be a physical art from. Come to the class wearing comfortable shoes and clothes.

THE DROP-IN WORKSHOP

Our Drop-in workshop is Coast Improv’s monthly workshop for improvisers wanting more after they complete our Intro class. Part workshop and part house party, this gathering of creative minds is sure to be a good time filled with positivity and improvisational fun. Want to join us for the Drop In? Check your email for the password and sign up the week of the event!

“It’s not just about learning the games one has seen on TV, but more about learning exercises to turn off the fear of being wrong in our brain, and instead learn to let the creativity flow out. It’s a practice I am loving getting better at.”
